How to deal with doing poorly on an exam

We have all received a grade on an exam, assignment, or quiz that we were not happy with. Here is a list of ways to deal with those feelings and move forward.


  1. Stay Calm:

  • It's natural to feel disappointed or frustrated, but try to stay calm and avoid dwelling on negative emotions. Panicking or becoming overly upset won't help the situation.

  1. Assess the Situation:

  • Take a step back and objectively evaluate your performance on the exam. Identify areas where you struggled and try to understand why.

  • Consider factors such as the difficulty of the exam, your level of preparation, and any unexpected circumstances that may have affected your performance.

  1. Seek Feedback:

  • If possible, seek feedback from your instructor or TA to understand where you went wrong. They may be able to provide insights into areas needing improvement and offer suggestions for study strategies.
